A Look Back: Macho Martial Arts, Founded In The USA
When you look back at the last 35 years, Macho has been working hard to provide martial artists with the gear they need to stay safe and train effectively. Macho Martial Arts is proud of its legacy and to be founded and based in the USA.
It all began in 1980 on Florida’s East Coast when 8th degree Tae Kwon Do black belt Grandmaster Soo Se Cho recognized a need for greater safety in martial arts training and competition. He designed and made the first Macho Gear in the USA by hand dipping them in a cut-off oil drum in a borrowed building. His passion drove him to continue researching and continue improving. He often enlisted his own Tae Kwon Do students to try out his inventions. In fact, some of his original students are still at Macho today, carrying on his legacy.

Macho headquarters remains in the USA on the Florida Coast. While Macho has grown exponentially, manufacturing hundreds of thousands of pieces of gear annually, the same passion for quality and safety exists just as it did in Master Cho’s time. Sparring gear designs are tested on-site in the USA to ensure Master Cho’s safety standards are met.

Today, Macho gear is made in a factory that exclusively manufactures Macho products to Macho’s unique specifications. The factory is ISO certified and meets Macho’s rigorous standards. No other brands match Macho’s gear, nor do they have the published testing results to prove effectiveness.
Master Cho’s love for the sport and need for safety in martial arts sparring competition drives Macho’s mission today as Macho continues testing and working hard in the USA.
